Severity: important

the method get_next_command() of vboxd.c relies on little endian machines when
reading bytes in the int variable c.
As a result every attempt to connect to the server results in a time-out. (The
plain TCP connect works of course).
Changing this variable declaration to "char c;" solved the problem for me on
-powerpc (mac).
This should do the job on all architectures.
