Package: rrdtool
Version: 1.2.15-0.2
Severity: important
Tags: patch

The recent upgrade of rrdtool from 1.2.11-0.6 to 1.2.15-0.2 introduced
a bug in rrdtool that causes it to consume all memory when rendering
[at least some] logarithmic graphs.

See <http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool-trac/ticket/54#comment:18> for
details.

The latest snapshot of rrdtool fixes this bug. [I compiled from
source to verify this.] From rrdtool's author, in the above bug
entry, when I asked if the given svn revisions that fix the problem
were r881 and r887:

> I will be releasing rrdtool 1.2.16 RSN ... the rXXXX is just the svn
> revision and not something which should be packed I guess ... unless

> behavior.

Whether cherry-picking those changes, grabbing the latest snapshot or
reverting to an older version is the way to go I don't know, but the
bug as it is made the systems we ran rrdtool on useless while they
went into swap death. (Rendering a munin graph.)

Thanks,
Pete
