Compiling a "beamer" document works with pdflatex but fails with latex. The problem can be reproduced with the supplied example documents: $ cp -r /usr/share/doc/latex-beamer/examples/ /tmp/ $ cd /tmp/examples/ $ latex beamerexample2.beamer.tex [...] !
