Package: amanda-server
Version: 2.5.1p1-2
Apparently, the security model for version 2.5.1 and later has changed.
Consequently, running amrecover after the install fails with the following
error:
AMRECOVER Version 2.5.1p1. Contacting server on localhost ...
NAK: user root from localhost is not allowed to execute the service
amindexd: Please add "amindexd amidxtaped" to the line in
/var/backups/.amandahosts
After changing the amandahosts file appropriately, and trying to run
amrecover again:
AMRECOVER Version 2.5.1p1. Contacting server on localhost ...
NAK: amindexd: invalid service
This is apparently caused by inetd.conf needing different configuration
parameters for the amanda services than what the stock install used.
