The flash ads do take some cpu time but I could still use the firefox browser. Depending on how many users are hit by this problem, and depending on how severe the problem is perceived, we'll have to go back to installing flash 7. I would regret that, because then I'd have to reopen a few other bugs. Difficult choice. Does firefox become gradually slower over time? Or is the slowness constant depending on the number of open flash sites? Are the same flash ads shown with flash 9 and flash 7 ? Sometimes websites show different ads, flash animations or just plain animated gif's, depending on the browser capabilities. Maybe flash 7 is so old that quite some flash ads are no longer shown, or more simple ads. That could explain the difference in performance. But, that is just a wild guess. Maybe I should create two packages, flashplugin-nonfree-7 and flashplugin-nonfree-9, both with "Provides: flashplugin-nonfree". Any opinions on that?
