I've experienced this problem today. I was retrieving mail and simultaneously downloading some large files and the filesystem got full. I believe the index files for the inbox got "half writen" (and thus coprrupt) to disk, because of the file system getting full. I can provide all the meta files for the corrupted mailbox if it can be of any help.
