Or you're setting it in ~/.vimrc.  ":verbose set runtimepath" will tell
you what is setting the option.  Sounds like there's a "set rtp&" or
some such in one of your user's vim scripts.


I'd already looked.  Nothing in ~/.vimrc (or indeed ~/.??* ), or  in
/etc/vim.

:verbose set runtimepath gives the same output as :set runtimepath , so it
looks like it's coming straight from the binary.
