eggcups doesn't seem to want to work as described - the default printer selection dialog is fine (but is just a duplicate of existing functionality in Desktop|Administration|Printers) but the main function, the tray icon, does not work correctly. I've tested with two different systems (amd64 and powerpc) using a network printer that works fine with CUPS. Even when eggcups is started as root (when it claims to have correctly associated with dbus), the icon never shows any jobs in the queue.
If anyone else wants to try, the Build-Depends (checked with pbuilder) are - using cdbs - : cdbs, debhelper (>= 5), autotools-dev, libglib2.0-dev, libpango1.0-dev, libgtk2.0-dev, libgconf2-dev, libglade2-dev, libgnomeui-dev, libhal-dev, libgnome-keyring-dev, libgnomecups1.0-dev, libxss-dev, libxml-parser-perl, libdbus-glib-1-dev Three patches were required. (attached). To avoid rpath errors, the autotools need to be rerun: aclocal and autoconf. Upstream does not seem to have been active since 2004. -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.data-freedom.org/ http://www.nosoftwarepatents.com/ http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/
