After I initially reported the problem, I did a search for all packages that I
could locate that were related to defoma. This incluced lmodern and dfontmgr.
If these packages did not work, I was planning on using dfontmgr to tweak
defoma to see if that would fix the problem. One of the four packages that I
installed fixed the problem, even if it wasn't lmodern or dfontmgr. Perhaps I
should have been more systematic in reporting my fix, and remove the packages
one at a time until gnucash was broken again. Unfortunately, time was short, so
I didn't have time to do that.
