In your debconf templates file, you wrote: _DefaultChoice: apache2 [ default : Translators, do not put what's inside brackets into translations. Put apache,apache-ssl or apache-perl here but UNTRANSLATED just like it is in the ENGLISH template] In this case, just do not mark it as translatable, it is not needed.
