It inspires me to study the Tao of Programming some more...

I'll upload 4.0.1-3 with the patch I mentioned tonight; then I'll try
to reproduce what you said and see what I can glean from the core
file.  However, memory corruption bugs have a nasty tendency to cause
crashes in random, unrelated places :)

Options (1) and (3) on the welcome screen have Browse buttons next to
them.  Only the one next to the selected option is active.  When you
click on it, GPS is supposed to open a file selector dialogue box.
