Package: update-manager,update-notifier Version: update-manager/0.42.2ubuntu22-7,update-notifier/0.42.12-2+b1 Severity: normal
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 update-notifier continually tells me that "there is 1 update available"... however it should either be saying that there are 0 updates, or 2 updates: $ sudo apt-get -q upgrade Reading package lists... Building dependency tree... The following packages have been kept back: libvte-common metacity-common 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded. When I click on the icon, update-manager says (correctly) that those two packages could not be installed... however it then tells me that I 'can install 1 update' and that update is sysvinit-utils. Nothing that I have installed (or marked to be installed in dpkg or aptitude's databases) depends on sysvinit-utils, so I don't see why update-manager wants to install it. - -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (530, 'testing'), (520, 'unstable'), (510, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-2-k7 Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages update-manager depends on: ii libgnome2-perl 1.040-1 Perl interface to the GNOME librar ii lsb-release 3.1-22 Linux Standard Base version report ii python 2.4.4-1 An interactive high-level object-o ii python-apt 0.6.19 Python interface to libapt-pkg ii python-glade2 2.8.6-6 GTK+ bindings: Glade support ii python-gnome2 2.12.4-5 Python bindings for the GNOME desk ii python-gnupginterface 0.3.2-9 Python interface to GnuPG (GPG) ii python-support 0.5.5 automated rebuilding support for p ii synaptic 0.57.12 Graphical package manager update-manager recommends no packages. - -- no debconf information -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFFbf5Cshl/216gEHgRArsFAKDwgl95kvXWY8rkg/V4T9PsppIQQACg8U69 fwWxl7c9GcCrrwiPg6euMRQ= =fNG9 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
