This indicates that your NIS server is not running or cannot be
contacted - the init script will wait for up to ten seconds to contact
it.  Are you using some non-standard network connection management such
as Network Manager or one of the laptop connection detection systems
that doesn't bring the connection up as part of the init sequence?
