Package: libapache-mod-ssl-doc Version: 2.8.22-1sarge1
To whom it may concern: First of all, thanks a lot for packaging up this stuff Debian-style. This is just a minor complaint, but hey - any bug reports that leads to a fixed bug is a good thing, right? Between the packages "libapache-mod-ssl" and "libapache-mod-ssl-doc", there are several redundant files which, IMHO, only serve to (a) waste disk space, and (b) confuse whoever is trying to read this stuff. The files [NEWS.gz README.gz changelog.Debian.gz changelog.gz copyright] are exactly the same, byte for byte. The files that are both named CREDITS.gz are not byte-for-byte the same, but once decompressed, they _are_ byte-for-byte the same (different versions of "gzip"?). Since, if I understand correctly, the whole point of having a "-doc" package is to make the installation of big documentation files/directories optional, I recommend the following: - remove "changelog.gz" from libapache-mod-ssl (it's 60K) - remove [NEWS.gz README.gz changelog.Debian.gz copyright] from libapache-mod-ssl (only 16K together) - move [README.GlobalID.gz README.Support README.Versions.gz README.Wishes.gz] to libapache-mod-ssl (they're 20K together) - have libapache-mod-ssl-doc install its files and directories (as per my rec., only "changelog.gz" and "html/") into "/usr/share/doc/libapache-mod-ssl/", and eliminate the redundant and confusing "/usr/share/doc/libapache-mod-ssl-doc/". Although the above probably applies to all of mod_ssl's Debian-supported arches, here are the deb's I installed from: libapache-mod-ssl-doc_2.8.22-1sarge1_all.deb libapache-mod-ssl_2.8.22-1sarge1_i386.deb Regards, Abe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
