There should be an option in KControlCenter to choose your standard browser. Maybe you should just choose Galeon there. The option is somewhere under "KDE-components->Component selection" (or something similar, I don't use an english version). I don't know if this is the same in KDE 2, but there should be something similar. If that solves your issue, please close the bug report.
