Sure ;-) indeed it was too late an night so I couldn't think about this

ok - for instance you have the same window managers on local box and on
remote VNC sessions and Alt-Tab switches between windows. But if you are
not in window maker ( ;-) ) and regardless either your focus window is
VNC, whenever you press Alt-Tab you would switch between local windows,
not remote. The same goes for any other shortcut your window manager was
setup to process (eg switching between virtual desktops, etc).
