Well, try with a different gtk engine then? Maybe it is the gtk-qt
engine.

It indeed appears to be related to the gtk-qt engine, apps tend to use more pixmap mem when it is enabled. I haven't been able to run xchat for hours with gtk-qt disabled yet, but if that still sucks up huge amounts of pixmap memory i'll be sure to post it here.


Do you have transparency enabled?

I don't.
