Just to make sure I understand you correctly: you don't need to use k3bsetup
to use k3b ?  I am asking because I am finding that K3bsetup is causing more
problems than it is supposed to solve on Debian.  I think that K3b on Debian
should just be configured to work out of the box and not require any
adjustments by an external program. So perhaps removing it entirely would be
the best solution.

I believed that the problem with using chmod directly is that these settings
are overwritten once you upgrade to a newer version of wodim.
