This is totally weird... Are you sure you had /proc mounted and swap activated 
when 
you configured uswsusp? 

Could you please send:

        sort -r -k 3 /proc/swaps | awk '$2=="partition" {print $1}'

And when you're at it:

        mountpoint /proc

You can 100% reproduce the 'no swap'-warning, right?
