Package: chrony Version: 1.21z-4 Severity: important Chrony works great here after the initial install, no changes to defaults made. However, after rebooting and reestablishing a dialup connection the time servers were not contacted. A couple of chrony purge and install cycles revealed that if chrony was installed with an active dialup connection everything worked until after rebooting. But, if chrony was installed while dialup was down, chrony couldn't connect to the time servers when a dialup connection was made.
Messages from syslog upon reboot (makes sense because there is no dialup at boot time): Nov 8 12:42:24 debian chronyd[4158]: chronyd version 1.21 starting Nov 8 12:42:24 debian chronyd[4158]: Invalid host/IP address at line 16 Nov 8 12:42:24 debian chronyd[4158]: Invalid host/IP address at line 17 Nov 8 12:42:24 debian chronyd[4158]: Invalid host/IP address at line 18 Nov 8 12:42:24 debian chronyd[4158]: Initial txc.tick=10000 txc.freq=0 (0.00000 000) txc.offset=0 => hz=100 shift_hz=7 Nov 8 12:42:24 debian chronyd[4158]: set_config_hz=0 hz=100 shift_hz=7 basic_fr eq_scale=1.28000000 nominal_tick=10000 slew_delta_tick=833 max_tick_bias=1000 Nov 8 12:42:24 debian chronyd[4158]: Linux kernel major=2 minor=6 patch=17 Nov 8 12:42:24 debian chronyd[4158]: calculated_freq_scale=0.99902439 freq_scal e=0.99902439 Related messages in ppp-ipupdown.log (when the time server connection fails): 200 OK 503 No such source If other dialup users are not seeing this problem, feel free to downgrade the bug. -- Doug Jensen -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17-2-k7 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages chrony depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libncurses5 5.5-5 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libreadline5 5.2-1 GNU readline and history libraries ii ucf 2.0016 Update Configuration File: preserv chrony recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
