I ran through the whole directory and no errors or hangs occurred. I really had my fingers crossed for this because without an offending image, the issue is very difficult to reproduce. Gnome is doing whatever it does to the background, so I didn't see the pictures actually loading, but the screen flew by with messages like the following: xscreensaver-getimage: grabDesktopImages: True xscreensaver-getimage: grabVideoFrames: False xscreensaver-getimage: chooseRandomImages: True xscreensaver-getimage: imageDirectory: /home/bmitch/data/picts/space/sh2136_kpno_big.jpg xscreensaver-getimage: loading "/home/bmitch/data/picts/space/sh2136_kpno_big.jpg" xscreensaver-getimage: scaling image by 62% (1635x600 -> 1024x375) xscreensaver-getimage: displaying 1024x375 image at 0,196 in 1024x768. xscreensaver-getimage: grabDesktopImages: True xscreensaver-getimage: grabVideoFrames: False xscreensaver-getimage: chooseRandomImages: True xscreensaver-getimage: imageDirectory: /home/bmitch/data/picts/space/swan_gralak_big.jpg xscreensaver-getimage: loading "/home/bmitch/data/picts/space/swan_gralak_big.jpg" xscreensaver-getimage: scaling image by 45% (2229x1575 -> 1024x723) xscreensaver-getimage: displaying 1024x723 image at 0,22 in 1024x768. Anything else I can try? It's been a while since I updated to the most current testing, but I feel like this has been happening every so often for the past few months (and that likely equates to when I gave up on gnome-screensaver, and went back to this old faithful).
