Debian Sarge uses a value of "screen.linux" for $TERM when starting the program screen from the linux console. Thus, old non-debian binary only programs using termcap won't run out of the box. A fast solution is just to add "screen.linux" as terminal name in the entry for screen: --DIFF-- --- termcap 2000-02-04 04:46:26.000000000 +0100 +++ /tmp/termcap 2005-03-18 23:21:26.089776184 +0100 @@ -2335,7 +2335,7 @@ # come from University of Wisconsin and may be older. # (screen: added :ve: on ANSI model -- esr) -screen|VT 100/ANSI X3.64 virtual terminal:\ +screen|screen.linux|VT 100/ANSI X3.64 virtual terminal:\ :am:km:mi:ms:xn:\ :Co#8:co#80:it#8:li#24:pa#64:\ :AL=\E[%dL:DC=\E[%dP:DL=\E[%dM:DO=\E[%dB:F1=\E[23~:\ --DIFF END-- -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-pjw-md41300-1 Locale: LANG=, LC_CTYPE=de_DE (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages termcap-compat depends on: ii libc5 5.4.46-15 The Linux C library version 5 (run -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
