I simply use beagled to start the daemon. I run the "Desktop search" GUI
application by pressing F12 at the desktop, but it doesn't seem to
trigger the exception. I don't know what does, I usually see at most a
couple of those backtraces in the current-*Console logs.

That's exactly my point. The files referred to in /tmp are cleaned up,
so I don't know what they contain. Would it be useful if I create a
wrapper for mono-mcs that makes a copy of them so we can see what's
causing the compilation?
