Hello Joerg,
I think you should either upgrade or remove the package now. Why?
Currently, the only real use area for smake is Schilling's makefile
cruft. But its current generation does not build with the ancient
version of smake in the archive. So the smake package in Debian is only
good to annoy users that try to follow Schillings instructions and use
smake, and fail with smake (from Debian).
