Usually module-source packages ship an archive containing the
module-source, as shown below for the pre-NMU version:
$ dpkg --contents mga-vid-source_1.55-1_i386.deb | grep /usr/src
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2005-03-23 11:34 ./usr/src/
-rw-r--r-- root/root 18253 2005-03-23 11:34 ./usr/src/mga-vid.tar.gz
$
Your NMU-version instead ships both: the archive as well as the extracted
source, which is redundant, uncommon etc. etc.:
$ dpkg --contents mga-vid-source_1.55-1.1_i386.deb | grep /usr/src
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-11-01 15:35 ./usr/src/
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-11-01 15:35 ./usr/src/modules/
