After installing cupsys and cupsys-driver-gutenprint and attempting to "Add This Printer" for my Epson Stylus R220 from the CUPS webserver "Administration" tab, I was presented with only 6 different basic Epson driver options, none of which worked. After much digging and searching I came to the conclusion that CUPS was not finding the gutenprint drivers. The following website hinted that *.ppd's should be found in /usr/share/ppd/; http://wiki.debian.org/PpdFileStructureSpecification The only files I found in that directory were misc *.ppd files provided by other packages. The *.ppd.gz files generated by cupsys-drivers-gutenprint are in /usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint/5.0/en/. So I created the following symlink; /usr/share/ppd/gutenprint -> /usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint/5.0/en After doing this and re-adding my printer, CUPS was able to find and suggest the correct gutenprint ppd and everything worked.
