Package: udev
Version: 0.100-2
Severity: important

i am not sure if this bug belongs to grub or to udev...

when using a serial console for a grub boot entry, the boot hangs
at, or about, 'Waiting for /dev to be fully populated...'

(which makes me think this bug *might* belong to udev)

$ grep '^# kopt' /boot/grub/menu.lst
# kopt=root=/dev/sda1 ro console=ttyS0,9600

removing the ' console=ttyS0,9600' from above causes the
system to boot cleanly.

when the system does 'hang', a large amount of data is sent
to the serial port. the data seems to be somewhat random 0x00
and 0x80 bytes. i am not sure what role 7-bit ascii plays here,
but only the high bit is changing.
