do you reckon that you have an icon tray running and that the Ekiga icon
is being shown there? In that case this is intended behaviour. If you
got no tray running however, this should not occur in the described way.
I do not use gnome, but only sawfish. I do not have any icon on my
screen, it is a minimalistic environment. However, all the applications
I use have been working as expected since a few years!
