I confirm, I see the same strange mplayer.conf here. Here is what it looks like:

PLACE YOUR EDITS BELOW; THEY WILL BE PRESERVED. It seems values are mixed with different config name. xv_X11/Xv should be assigned to vo instead of dvd-device, etc...
