I understand, but no, I did not. I tend to be conservative about my backups. > The Debian packages do *not* use /etc/amandates by default. OK, but reality here is different: $ l /etc/amandates /var/lib/amanda/amandates - -rw-r--r-- 1 backup backup 490 Oct 27 05:02 /etc/amandates - -rw-r--r-- 1 backup backup 922 Oct 22 04:53 /var/lib/amanda/amandates :( And looking in client-src/clientconf.c:298 I see: conf_init_string(&client_conf[CLN_AMANDATES], "/etc/amandates"); It seems to me that -DAMANDATES_FILE and --localstatedir are not enough to override the above. I may be wrong, of course. This is the first time I look into the source. > So, is it possible that you're running a version of Amanda on the client in > question that is not from a Debian package, all packages are official, and the problem appears on all three systems I've upgraded amanda-client to 1:2.5.1-1 > and/or have you created an > amanda-client.conf file that is specifying /etc/amandates as the path, or > something like that? Nope. `find /etc -name amanda-client.conf' gives no results. `grep -ri amandates /etc' gives no results neither on clients, nor on server. > I really can't see how the problem you are reporting > could really exist in my packages, and I am completely unable to reproduce > this on my systems. The only thing I did when upgrading from 2.5.0 to 2.5.1 was to adapt server configuration file to the new rules. If you're sure that the above code snippet, setting amandates_file configuration option to "/etc/amandates" by default is overridden later, can you suggest where to look further?
