Package: postfix
Version:
Severity: wishlist

I was trying to debug a problem with a list of smtpd_sender_restrictions and
it occurred to me that it might be nice to have something like
"warn_if_reject" but just for logging where you were in the list of
restrictions. So maybe it would be called something like log_mark, and it
would log something like 'log_mark: next is "$next_rule"'. The resulting log
entries would be timestamped, so you could use multiple log_mark's and
determine how long something would take. This could be thought of as "printf
debugging for postfix" or for measuring between marks maybe even "rule
profiling".

What do you think?

Thanks,
