Package: testdisk Version: 6.4.1-1+b1 Severity: normal
Hi. I analysed a vfat partition with photorec and it was unable to find not damaged .jpg files with header "0xff 0xd8 0xff 0xe1", although this header is supported by the program. Instead, the text information embedded into the .jpg files was identified as being a separated .txt file. Maybe photorec should be able to perform file scanning over a subset of file types (for example, to search only .jpg files) to be sure that a .txt header is not identified before the .jpg header. In fact, the manpage says "PhotoRec searches JPEG and MOV files", which is not exact, as it searches many other file types at the same time. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-1-686 Locale: LANG=es_ES.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=es_ES.ISO-8859-15 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) (ignored: LC_ALL set to es_ES) Versions of packages testdisk depends on: ii e2fslibs 1.39+1.40-WIP-2006.10.02+dfsg-2 ext2 filesystem libraries ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libjpeg6 6b-13 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libncurs 5.5-5 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libntfs9 1.13.1-4 library that provides common NTFS testdisk recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
