I'm sorry for being so tardy.

This morning I tried updating to 2.12-r12 and I still get the same
results--an ongoing timeout on the client and the following in the
server's syslog:

kernel: Shorewall:net2all:DROP:IN=eth0 OUT=
MAC=00:04:5a:74:65:6c:00:d0:59:d8:19:34:08:00 SRC=192.168.1.2 DST=192.168.1.3
LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=20619 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=818 DPT=608
WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0

This is repeated several times in the server's syslog file.

After rolling the client back to 2.12-r6, I get the following message
in the server's syslog:

mountd[2972]: NFS mount of /home/user attempted from 192.168.1.2
mountd[2972]: /home/user has been mounted by 192.168.1.2

And everything on the client works fine.

Incidentally, the server is using mount 2.12-r12 with no other problems
noted. On the server, the following packages are installed (up-to-date
Sid installation):

mount                                                           2.12r-12
linux-image-2.6-k7                                              2.6.18+3
nfs-common                                                      1:1.0.10-2
nfs-user-server                                                 2.2beta47-23
shorewall                                                       3.2.4-1

On the client, I have a nearly up-to-date Sid install (the exception
being the kernel):

linux-image 2.6.16-1-686
firehol 1.231-7
mount 2.12-r6  (it works)

I have tried upgrading other versions of mount after I filed this
report and the result has been the same. Perhaps I can try a newer
kernel and see if that helps.
