Are you still interested in adopting "dvipng"? If not I would be happy to adopt it instead and look for a sponsor. The reason for my impatience is: I would be really happy if the newer version of "dvipng" makes it into "etch". This is because a package of mine "tex4ht" makes use of "dvipng" and the newer version produces PNG's with real transparency. Thanks and regards, Kapil. --
