I recommend somewhere in the policy docs it say Often wasted trailing whitespace is not noticed. Check with grep ' $' <--please adjust to catch TABs too! or emacs' show-trailing-whitespace. as there is no better place to mention it. J> it would be appropriate for lintian to check for them.
