The idea of a config file has been brought up on the ucarp mailing list
in the past and rejected. Upstream is pretty adamant about keeping ucarp
simple.

I'll raise the issue again, maybe there will be a change of heart.

A configuration file would be useful in addition to keeping the password
off the command line, that's the option I'd most like to see.
