There is a cvs commit from yesterday, which claims to have this problem fixed. From what I've seen from the code, it looks promising.
Could you guys please try the test package found at deb http://siretart.tauware.de/xine/ ./ and tell me if the problems are fixed for you? That test package is not ready for uploading yet, I need to go through the pile of xine-ui bugs first, and do a lot of bug triaging first.
