merge 393428 393430 thanks These two bugs are actually symptoms of the same problem: dead code which shouldn't ever be reached. This code was originally inserted to detect if wxgtk was available because the gui versions of clients weren't split out into another package. They remained vestial when I didn't remove them when the package was split.
