ah, sorry.  was looking for bugs related to foreign keys that produced
the error code you mentioned (i am able to reproduce it too), and
thought that might be related.

could you post the output of "show innodb status" immediately after
getting this error?

i can't say i'm too familiar with this either.  the last time i read
a book on mysql they didn't even support foreign keys outside of
accepting the syntax...

it might be worth posting this bug to some large mysql user group to
see if someone with a bit more experience could provide insight.
