Uhm, as far as I call tell, your news server is a regular nntp server. So, data is only encrypted while being transmitted between you and the "tunnel server". I am still unable to reproduce the error that you are describing, I have no problems connecting through an ssh tunnel. I am inclined to think that the problem is with your local setup. -- Søren O.
