Package: lists.debian.org could whoever is looking after the anti-spam rules on debian's list server please start blocking image attachments? there is no legitimate reason for anyone to ever send an image file to any of the debian mailing lists, and spammers are frequently abusing the debian lists to send spams with a line or two of random text plus an image attchment that contains the actual spam. i'm getting anywhere up to a dozen of the bloody things per day now.
the random text avoids bayesian filtering, and putting the spamvertised URL and spam-text inside an image makes it impossible to filter with body_checks or spamassassin rules. debian's lists are a multiplier of and effectively a source of unblockable spam. spammer sends one spam to debian's lists and ends up spamming thousands. please fix. (and yes, i know i can block image attachments at my end....but neither i nor anyone else should have to block ALL image attachments just to avoid getting image spams from a listserver that has no legitimate reason to ever send anyone an image attachment. nor should i have to waste my bandwidth to receive the message just to find out it is spam and bounce or discard it. this problem should be solved at the source, not the destination). craig -- craig sanders <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (part time cyborg) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
