i'm still having this with the newest kernel (2.6.18.X). Below is what it tells me when I try to run the eject command.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ eject /dev/sda2
eject: unable to find or open device for: `/dev/sda2'
If I try to eject from GNOME (and I guess it's really metacity probably not nautilus?) then the icon disappers but I get the same error. Also my IPod acts like it the computer hasn't communicated with it.

What is the output of the "eject /dev/sda2" command?
Does it still happen with the 2.6.18 kernel which entered unstable?
