No, fortunately we're not. :)  There are however a number of devices
which have a firmware based on an old kernel.  In debian-installer, I
support two such devices: the Netwinder (ARM) and some old Cobalt
machines (little-endian MIPS).  Both require a /boot partition that is
ext2 r0.
