Gimme some time, I'm quite busy ATM and I remember the fglrx driver is
(was?) a bit bitchy sometimes.
if it's not possible for you, but maybe you've got an nvidia card
around you could give the nvidia card with nvidia's closed source
driver a try.
It's a notebook :-(
