All I know is now in firefox Chinese is now in a skinny font with
holes in it that drives one nuts but dillo is OK and I saw

Installing new version of config file /etc/fonts/fonts.conf ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/fonts/fonts.dtd ...

Also dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig didn't help firefox.
