Package: nvidia-kernel-source Version: 1.0.7167-1 Severity: important I'm having a strange problem with Nvidia 7167 drivers. Whenever I start up X and attempt to start up Thunderbird, this sends the load on the machine through the roof and effectively crashes it. The only way out is to reboot. I tried this with both kernel 2.6.8.1 and 2.6.11.3. Downgrading to the Nvidia 6629 drivers fixes the problem.
The same problem also appears with Firefox, though it normally doesn't crash at startup but instead crashes after a few minutes of use. Again, this problem doesn't exist with 6629 drivers.
