A couple of minor things and one reasonably serious- looking gotcha (possibly PEBKAC as usual) were encountered. At [!] Detect network hardware "no ethernet card": for the benefit of dial-up-only users without any ethernet card this option might be further labelled "no ethernet card (dialup-ppp-only users)" just to avoid some possible confusion for those of us using ppp only. Then in the [!] Configure the network - No network interfaces detected screen which follows, an additional note could be added to avoid 'dialup-user panic', something like, "ppp-dialup users can safely select Continue here. You will be prompted later (after rebooting the new system) to run pppconfig and set up your dialup provider account." Now here's the rub. During the base-config stage and if one's dialup ISP has assigned nameservers, one therefore selects "static DNS" from the appropriate menu in pppconfig, filling in dotted quads for primary and secondary nameservers. pppconfig writes this information to /etc/ppp/resolv/provider *only*, and does not seem to write /etc/resolv.conf at all. Therefore configure apt barfs and base-config leaves the install broken (un-updateable) until something like # cp /etc/ppp/resolv/provider /etc/resolv.conf is done manually. It's all pretty slick otherwise. With deepest regards for a very good installer, Tony Rowe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
