  Should we change our versioning system? 
  I admit in hindsight that our .x and .x.y releases are not all
of equivalent stability.
  We can not afford to the kind of "LTS" that people might like with
a lot of back patches to previous versions.  Our customers are not
paying us for stability  --- they are paying for new features.
