  The main reason I don't do this is that the resolver's output focuses
on what the resolver will do.  This is a big help when you have 50
packages to upgrade, and one or two need to be tweaked to make the
dependencies come out right.  Otherwise you'd get a new big list of
changes that will be made, and end up having to compare the new list to
the old one to find out what happened.
