Hi, I looked into this and it turns out to be a problem in orbit2 (see #390516 for more info). The problem is that gconfd-2 fails to start up and gconftool-2 waits forever for it. It might be a good idea to make gconftool-2 a bit more robust and let it check that gconfd-2 started up properly and didn't exit before communication could be established.
